A Journey with Amber is a project-documentary that follows the journey of the Amber Worlds team as we spent two weeks travelling across Poland and Lithuania in March 2026.  The film attempts to trace amber’s contemporary worlds, from museum collections and jewellery workshops in Warsaw, to open-pit mines in Lublin, to the Baltic shores of Klaipeda and finally to the amber capital, Gdansk. By following the team members on this journey, the film connects to the broader themes and places of the project, bringing viewers into ongoing discussions about extraction and labour, trade and value, scientific knowledge and local expertise, and the politics and ethics that shape amber’s global circulation.

The film was shot by Alessandro Rippa and myself, and edited by me and with the kind support of the European Research Council and the UiO: Energy and Environment initiative.
